Step three

Mark it done.

Tap "Mark done," or just swipe the job right on the dashboard. A check confirms it, shows when it's next due, and offers Undo if you got the wrong job. If the last reading is a couple of weeks old, it asks for today's first. The part number stays with the job, so next time you already know what to buy.

Features

Built around one question: what needs doing?

Everything else in the app exists to answer that honestly — which means knowing what you did last time, and counting from it.

Counts from real readings

An oil change due in 5,000 miles means 5,000 miles from the last one — not from today, and not from an assumed 12,000 miles a year. Once it has a couple of weeks of readings, it estimates the date too: "About 3 weeks away."

History you can correct

Typed 391,000 instead of 39,100? A reading that jumps further than any vehicle could gets a quick "are you sure?" before it saves. Anything that slips through, edit or delete — the schedule and the odometer both follow the correction.

Parts and how-to, kept with the job

The filter that actually fits, recorded once, with one tap to find it on Amazon or at Advance Auto Parts. Save a how-to video on the job too, or let the app search YouTube for one.

Repairs, not just routine

The alternator that quit or the leak under the sink isn't a scheduled job, but it belongs in the history. Log a repair with its cost and date, and if it'll need doing again, let the app remind you.

Whoever did it last

If a shop handled it, keep their number on the record and call them from the job itself, a year later, without hunting for the receipt.

Fuel Economy Tracker

Log fill-ups and the app keeps your running fuel economy — in mpg, or L/100 km if you work in kilometres and litres. Forgot a few? Add them later with the date you filled up. A number that quietly falls off is often the first sign something needs looking at.

Backups, automatic and your own

A backup is taken automatically each week, so a bad edit is easy to undo. For a lost or replaced phone, export everything — receipt photos and manuals included — to one file you keep, or, on Android, have backups saved to a folder you choose, even Google Drive. No account, so nobody but you has a copy.

Photograph the receipt

Attach a photo when you mark a job done — the receipt, the old part, the reading on the pump. It stays with that service record, so the proof and the date are in the same place a year later.

Manuals where the machine is

Keep the owner’s manual, the warranty and the wiring diagram on the asset itself. Easier to find than the drawer in the kitchen, and it works with no signal.

One weekly summary

A single notification listing what is coming up, on the day and at the time you choose. Per-job reminders are there too — with Mark done and Snooze right on the notification — but most people would rather be told once on a Saturday morning than six times in a week.

Safety recall checks

In the U.S., turn it on and ReminDIY checks weekly with NHTSA for your vehicles and the CPSC for mowers, generators and appliances. A new recall shows up under Alerts with a link to the notice. Off unless you switch it on.

Warranty and serial number

Keep the serial number (or VIN and plate), purchase date and specs on each thing. Set when the warranty ends — a date, a number of years, or a mileage or hours limit — and you'll get a reminder before it runs out, while it can still pay for a repair.

Service history as a PDF

Selling the truck? Share its whole service record as a tidy PDF — every job, the schedule and the mileage trail — straight from the asset. Buyers trust a history they can read for themselves.

Five languages

English, Spanish, German, French and Italian — every screen, reminder and report follows your phone's language. Dates, money and units follow its country too: kilometres and litres where that's what you use.

Things inside things

Put the water heater, furnace and fridge inside the house instead of beside it — they list together, each with its own jobs. Logged something on the wrong one? Move the job, history and all, to where it belongs.

Dark mode

A proper dark theme, not an inverted one — easy on the eyes in the garage at night. It follows your phone by default, or set it to light or dark yourself in Settings. See both side by side.

Your records stay on your phone

No account, no sign-in, and your things, jobs, history and costs are never uploaded. It works on a plane in airplane mode and in the back of a shed with no signal. The app counts installs and opens through Google's analytics, with none of your records. What's sent, and where.

Dark mode

Just as easy to read at 10 p.m. in the garage.

ReminDIY has a full dark theme, designed rather than flipped. The background is a warm near-black instead of pure black, text is off-white so it doesn't glare, and the overdue, due-soon and on-track colours are adjusted so they stay easy to tell apart on a dark screen.

  • Follows your phone's light or dark setting automatically.
  • Or pin it to light or dark under Settings → Appearance.
  • The keyboard, date picker and status bar switch with it, not just the screens.

The difference

Most reminder apps are just a calendar with your name on it.

Which works until life doesn't cooperate. You drive 3,000 miles one year and 19,000 the next; the mower sits idle through a wet June. A date-based reminder is either nagging you early or letting the job slide — and after a few months of that, you stop trusting it.

  • Miles, running hours, or a plain calendar interval — or both, as in "every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first."
  • Nothing is guessed. If it doesn't know when you last did something, it says so instead of inventing a date.
  • Snooze a job without losing its place in the schedule.
  • Press and hold the app icon to jump straight to Log a fill-up or Update readings.
  • Room to spread out on an iPad or Android tablet, upright or sideways.
  • Seasonal jobs for the house land in the right month — gutters in spring and fall, the furnace in September, outdoor faucets in October.
  • Put your things in the order you think of them — press and hold an asset, then drag it where it belongs.
  • Sold the old truck? Archive it. Its history stays readable, and Restore brings it back if you need it.
  • A separate Alerts tab for what the app is missing — a meter it has never been given, a job with no date set, records that haven't been backed up in a while — rather than a second copy of the overdue list.
  • What you've spent on each thing, by year and split between service and fuel, once you've logged a few jobs.
